Structure Description
The Grenoble Electrical Engineering Laboratory (G2Elab) covers a scientific spectrum ranging from materials and components to the design and control of electrical energy systems. G2Elab's work in this field can be summed up by the following keywords: electrical energy, materials for electrical engineering, innovative processes and systems, modelling and design. With around a hundred permanent staff, around a hundred PhD students and more than 70 masters students, post-doctoral students and visiting professors, G2Elab is a major national and international player at the heart of the energy efficiency of components and systems.
Main mission
The aim of this mission is to analyse the operation of electrical networks in a situation where power electronics devices such as microgrids or continuous current (DC) networks are widely used. You will analyse the main interactions between power electronic converters and the network and identify the type of systems currently being developed, their main interests and their limitations. You will also identify the demands on the design of power converters and recommendations on network topology.
Main activities
- Carry out an in-depth bibliography in order to identify the type of systems currently being developed, their main interests and limitations, and classify them.
- Identify several case studies (small or large networks, AC or DC, medium or high voltage, etc.) in order to identify the similarities as well as the main differences and constraints.
- Work in interaction with the various partners of the G2Elab, who may be industrialists such as Schneider Electric or Enedis, research centres such as the CEA or Supergrid, or doctoral students who are currently working on the PEPR TASE project, which deals with meshed MVDC networks based on power electronics.
Desired profile
- PhD in Power Electronics,
- Knowledge of Smartgrids
- Excellent writing skills,
- Ability to report, publish and promote results.
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills,
- Thoroughness, initiative and ability to work as part of a team.
