Prix pour Jean-Luc Schanen

PowerAlps project leader Jean-Luc SCHANEN was honored as a Fellow of the IAS (Industry Application Society) and PELS (Power Electronics Society) at the ECCE 2023 conference, where he was General-Co-Chair.

ECCE is the most important conference for electrical engineering, bringing together just under 2,000 people each year to discuss all aspects of the field. PowerAlps organized a special session on the status and potential of "Ultra wide band gap" semiconductors, with the participation, among others, of David Eon from Institut Néel (partner of PowerAlps).

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering) is the world's largest professional technical organization dedicated to the advancement of technology. It has over 423,000 members in 160 countries, including more than 4,200 in France. IEEE also has over 120,000 student members. Its main objective is to develop technology for the benefit of humanity.

Each year, the IEEE Board of Directors awards the rank of Fellow to "certain of its members whose extraordinary achievements in all areas of IEEE interest are deemed valid for elevation to this prestigious rank". The annual number of nominations may not exceed 0.1% of the Society's active members, i.e. just over 300. In this respect, the grade of IEEE Fellow is a highly selective recognition (around 100 IEEE Fellows in all for France).

The award ceremony took place at the ECCE 2023 conference, with Jean-Luc Schanen as General-Co-Chair.
